Volunteers/Chaperones for JHS Band Program
Chaperone for Field Trips
For every band trip, we need at least 2-3 chaperones to help keep an eye on students, hand out snacks/ water, and anything else Ms. Blanchet needs. This is especially important during the marching season as we take weekly trips to competitions, away games, and parades. We also need chaperones for our MPA trips, NC Symphony trips, Solo and Ensemble events, End of Year trips, or any other events the band is invited to.
In order to be a chaperone for any field trip, you must be finger printed by the county and get it approved by the principal. The form you need to fill out and give to the principal to sign is posted below. You can find the information to sign up for finger printing on the Onslow County Website.
Band Camp
Volunteers and Donations for Band Camp
Band Camp is the time where students learn to be a part of the Marching Band Organization. We teach them essentially how to be a student-run group. However, having a little extra help from parents is always appreciated!
Donations:
For Band Camp we need donations of the following-
- Plastic Water Bottles
- Prepackaged Healthy Snacks (think pretzels, fruits, plain crackers, nuts, etc.)
- Sunscreen (spray is the best!)
Donations can be dropped off at the beginning or end of band camp days (we will announce if we have enough or need more throughout the week!). We will start accepting donations on July 24th, 2023.
Volunteers:
- The most help we need for band camp is sizing uniforms! It is a time-consuming process but is so important to the success of our program. You will not be measuring anyone but helping students try on uniforms and catalogue them for our records. Students will try on jackets, gauntlets, pants, and hats. If you can help, you will need to be present for both days August 7th & 8th from 7:30am-12:00pm.
- If you would like to volunteer to help at band camp as an extra presence (parent volunteers are not instructors- we just need a set of hands to help watch over kids, to help refill water bottles, and maybe an extra set of feet to roam and supervise)- PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP WITH DATES YOU ARE AVAILABLE. Dates and times we need help are-
July 31-Aug 3- 8am-12pm
