IB Information
Jacksonville High School is proud to be an IB World School offering the full IB Diploma Programme (DP) and IB Career-related Programme (CP). JHS is the only school in Onslow County that offers the IB Full Diploma Programme, and we were the first high school in NC to offer IB CP. Since 2010 over 250 students have completed IB course work. We embrace the mission of IB and share in the belief that the "International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."

General Information
The IB Diploma Program is offered to juniors and seniors who wish to pursue a comprehensive educational program to prepare for college.

Requirements to earn the Full Diploma:
- Complete the following course requirements:
- 3 Higher Level (HL) classes over two years
- 3 Standard Level (SL) classes
- These 6 classes must cover the six areas of English, Social Science World Language, Science, Math and an elective (dance, music, visual arts, ITGS, or a second science)
- Theory of Knowledge (TOK) class over two years
- Write an Extended Essay
- 4,000 word investigation on a topic of student's choice with guidance
- Participate in extra curriculuar activities in the areas of Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS)
- Take IB Exams in all six courses and earn an average grade of 4 out of 7 points on each
